Codes

On November 12, 2009 the Council completed adoption of the 2009 International Building, Residential, Mechanical and Fire Codes and the 2009 Uniform Plumbing CodeThese codes, with state amendments, will be effective on July 1, 2010.

The Council amended the 2009 IRC Section 313: Automatic Fire Sprinklers, moving this section to an appendix, pre-approved for local adoption.

The Council deferred action on the Washington State Energy Code to their upcoming meeting on November 20, 2009.

The State Building Council
is a state agency created by the legislature to provide independent analysis and objective advice to the legislature and the Governor's Office on state building code issues.  The Council establishes the minimum building, mechanical, fire, plumbing and energy code requirements necessary to promote the health, safety and welfare of the people of the state of Washington, by reviewing, developing and adopting the state building code.
